Vadzidzi Vekutanga drops video of hope

RENOWNED choral outfit Vadzidzi Vekutanga has dropped a video song titled Muchinjikw­a, off their latest bum Zvizaruko-Zvedenga.

The video, which is already doing rounds on online platforms, was shot in Harare and Cape Town in South Africa .

Group leader, Richard Mapfumo (pictured below), who is now based in South Africa, said the release of the video song was timeous given the latest calamities befalling believers.

“The video song carries a message of hope given the current trials and tribulatio­ns befalling our people,” Mapfumo said.

“We are being tormented both physically and spirituall­y and here we are saying, look up to the cross, to Jesus who will give us solutions.

“I am happy that the video song is out. I had to assemble a new team here in South Africa at the same time working with loyal members back home. I am grateful with such achievemen­t.”

Mapfumo said he was in the process of shooting videos of the remaining songs o his latest project that was released in October last year.

“We are shooting videos for the remaining songs to be released in July. It is our wish to drop that full video album as we have done before,” said Mapfumo.

The group, famed for the tracks VadzidziVo­sham

bira, among others, was born out of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe (MCZ) in Beitbridge in 2006.

They conquered the gospel music world through their routine of scintillat­ing dances and their amazing abilities in playing the trumpet

apfumo, a ectionatel­y known as The King of Trumpet, relocated to South Africa a few years ago where he is continuing in steering the group towards more success.

Some of the songs on the album recorded at ZimTach Records doing well on local radio stations include

Pupura, Muchinjikw­a and DzoraMoyo.
