A MAZOWE councillor has been accused by the Mvurwi Residents Association of threatening to assault their treasurer during a consultative meeting last week.

The association has since lodged a complaint against Fanuel Chigonero of MDC-T with council chairperson Shereni Mazhambe. In a letter seen by Standard People, the association accused Chigonero of violating section 194:1(c) of the constitution.

"We are launching a complaint against councillor Fanuel Chigonero's behaviour during a meeting held on Tuesday at Mvurwi Town Council boardroom,” reads part of the complaint.

“Late during the course of the meeting, councillor Chigonero made a sudden outburst against one of our members, Mr Waddilove Kamuzonde accusing, him of hating him.

“He stood up wanting to hit him. Later on after the meeting, he continued threatening our member.”

Mazhambe, who was also present during the alleged chaos, con rmed receiving the complaint without further details.

Chigonero said he was against the motion moved by the association of engaging the Zanu PF Mazowe district coordinating committee and had been threatened by Kamuzonde purporting to be a Central Intelligence Organisation operative.
