Lifeline for Chikomba pupils

- BY STYLE REPORTER

SEVENTY-FIVE vulnerable children from Chikomba East constituency in Mashonaland East province have received a major boost after a local non-governmental organisation donated school uniforms and food to them.

The beneficiaries were drawn from 22 schools, both primary and secondary, from five wards in the area.

Speaking during the handover of the goods, ROSA Care operations director Melody Masiye said it is their mandate to look after vulnerable children and orphans, especially in Chikomba and other impoverished rural areas.

“These children are the leaders of tomorrow and we need to take care of them,” Masiye said.

“It is our duty and others to take care of disadvantaged people in our community so that they can be somewhere in future.

“We are now in winter, they need warm clothes, hence we brought complete sets of uniforms including winter tracksuits.

“We are delighted to see these children smiling like others. We also brought food to them as we thrive to reinforce their nutritional value.”

The beneficiaries were selected from schools like Chirasauta, Mangoro, Mushipe and Warikandwa among others.

The procurement of uniforms and groceries for the orphans was funded by the Muslim Helpers from Germany.

ROSA Care top official and community leader Forbes Chikobvu said they would continue sourcing goods for the benefit of orphans.

“We have assisted thousands of vulnerable children in this area. Each year we make sure that these children get their sets of uniforms. We want to make their lives easy especially during their learning seasons,” he said.
