Pair drops multilingual Covid-19 song
UPCOMING music group Decade Difference recently released a single which carries a message of hope in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking to Standard Style, the duo of Rumbie Rue (Rumbidzai ChakanzaMamvura) and Cinatra (Angela Cinatra Moyo) said depression and grief among citizens inspired their latest o ering titled Tinosvika Chete.
“This pandemic era has taken us to places of fear, loneliness and confusion as people lose their loved ones and jobs,” Mamvura said.
“We thought of a song that will give hope to communities so that these turbulent emotions will pass. Allow them to wash over you like water and then you can start the re-born process. Be patient! Change takes time and do not take shortcuts. Pay attention to all details and you will reach your desired destination.
“New opportunities for change and development present themselves every day. We pictured a train, whether it takes hours, it just reaches its destination and that is how life is like.”
The song, which was launched at Zim Events Family Fun Day at the Hockey Stadium in Harare, was recorded in ve different languages.
“Tinosvika Chete is sung in ve languages (Shona, Tonga, Chewa, Ndebele and English) to cater for all cultures,” Mamvura said.
“The song was produced by DJ Marvelle at McChevy Studios. We sing afro but we are not restricted to one genre as we want to bring out the yesteryear vibe.
“Music which is authentic and live for decades like True Love by Ilanga and
Hapana Mazwi by Michael Lanas. We can still vibe to those jams as if they are still fresh.
“We are busy composing songs for Decade Di erence project and we will be exible to use di erent studios in and out of Zimbabwe as we want to expand into other markets.
“Many thanks to Plot Mhako, who supported our collaboration idea and believed that we could bring a strong vibe to the music industry with great guidance on taking our time to think deeply about our content before just rushing to record.
She added: “For our individual brands, recently Cinatra released her EP called
Multilingual and is working on releasing videos whilst Rumbie Rue is working on releasing her single produced by DJ Miles from Propabless Studios a reggaeconscious song titled Thank You.
“She is recording some Afro-fusion and gospel songs to be released during the course of the year using di erent genres.”
Rumbie Rue and Cinatra formed the group Decade Di erence at Mhako’s Kombi Station where they felt they must be a group like Ma kizolo, which is free to do work under individual’s brands and group brands.
They named the group Decade Di erence because that is their age di erence and they believe each decade has a difference and will aim to bring that positive change regardless of their di erences.
