Armed robbers appear before magistrate

THREE armed robbers who targeted unsuspecting Bulawayo commuters and robbed them of their cash, and other valuables appeared before Regional Magistrate Mark Dzira last week.

Handsome Ncube, Innocent Ncube and Joshua Honest Maseko were remanded in custody to tomorrow for continuation of trial.

They deny the charges. It is the State’s case that the trio moved around in their vehicle targeting unsuspecting commuters.

In May 2021 at an unknown date, they o ered a lift to Timothy Banda who was looking for transport at the intersection of Intemba road and Hyde Park road in Pumula North on the pretext that they would take him to his destination.

The trio later robbed him of his cellphone and $400 when they turned into Old Lobengula suburb near Guta RaMwari church at gunpoint

They also robbed another female passenger who was in the same vehicle of her Samsung J1 and a Nokia Asher cell phone and groceries.

They later dumped their victims along Victoria Falls road.
