A BULAWAYO man may be regretting the day he invited his girlfriend for a visit as she went on to report him to the police for illegal possession of rounds of ammunition.

Timothy Mugwagwa (30) of Nkulumane in Bulawayo appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Shepard Mjanja on Thursday where he denied claims of illegal possession of 2x7.62 mm live rounds of ammunition. He was remanded in custody to tomorrow for continuation of trial.

The court was told that on January 1 at 3pm, Emelda Chikuya, who is his girlfriend, visited him at his home in Nkulumane to collect some money.

Mugwagwa later went to work for a night shift leaving her behind. At around 4am the following day, Chikuya stole her boyfriend’s traveling bag containing some clothes and left. Along the way, she searched the bag and found rounds of ammunition.

She reported the matter to Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) members who engaged the police, leading to his arrest.
