Council to rehabilitate water infrastructure
MUTARE City Council is planning to rehabilitate its ageing sewer reticulation system with money from this year’s $7 billion budget.
Council spokesperson Spren Mutiwi said the Local Government ministry approved their 2022 budget recently.
“We have started implementation of the budget, we are already carrying out a feasibility study of the Osborne water treatment so that we can plan to meet the demand and supply of the precious liquid,” Mutiwi said.
“The expansion of the city and growth requires another water treatment plant so that the facility augments the existing Odzani Water plant.
“We are also looking forward to upgrading our sewer lines especially the old ones which are failing to cope with the ever increasing population and straining sewers because pipes are blocking.”
