Kadoma city runs dry

-

THE City of Kadoma faces serious water challenges following the breakdown of pumping machinery at the Claw Dam reservoir.

Town clerk Malvern Dondo last week issued a notice warning residents of a further disruption of water supplies.

“The interruption is a result of a breakdown of the extraction pump at Claw Dam.

“The crisis is being treated with the deserved urgency and the repairing process is expected to last at least three days,” the notice reads in part.

There were fears that the municipality had run out of water treatment chemicals.

But acting director of engineering Blessing Musasira dismissed the rumour as untrue, and said the council had enough stocks.

“A component of the pump is damaged and we are in the process of repairing it,” Musasira said.

“We have enough water treatment chemicals, 30 tonnes, to last us about three to four weeks. — STAFF REPORTER
