Kunonga to seranade lovers at Zimcafe on Valentine’s Day

AWARD-WINNING Afro-jazz musician Victor Kunonga will serenade lovers to a Valentine’s Day treat at ZimCafe in Harare tomorrow.

The Shurugwi-born superstar knows how to perform at themed events and tomorrow he is definitely going to create a wonderfull­y dreamy backdrop to celebrate love for those that would attend the show.

ZimCafe is promising a lot fun for couples with a lot of prizes to be won by patrons on the day, whose colour themes are red, white and black.

Covid-19 protocols will be fully observed, the management said.

ZimCafe boss Isaac Neshamba promised a fun-filled day and was optimistic that Kunonga would give his best.

“It is an event that will inspire partners to rekindle their relationsh­ips. The music, environmen­t and all other packages on offer on the day will certainly lasting memories to couples,” Neshamba said.

Kunonga derives inspiratio­n from masters of Zimbabwean music namely Oliver Mtukudzi, Thomas Mapfumo, Louis Mhlanga, Chiwoniso Maraire and general traditiona­l rhythms.

His first album titled Such is Life was released in 2004 and carried hits such as Maidarirei, Ndanyenget­edzwa Namai and Tigere.

His other albums include Uyo,

Handinete , Ndatsva and Kwedu. Kunonga and his outfit Peace have been together since 2004 and have been part of a number of major festivals in the country and a regular feature at premium local jazz clubs.

The show at ZimCafe starts at 6pm till regulated lockdown time.
