Gokwe tariffs to go up by 100%
The government has approved Gokwe town council’s $1.2 billion budget that will see rates and tariffs go up by between 50% and 100%.
This publication is in possession of a letter written to the Gokwe town council approving the 2022 budget.
The local authority expects to raise 66% of the budget money through revenue collection, and the remainder from external funding such as devolution funds.
Most services will increase 100%, licenses by 90% and services charges for commercials by 80%.
The local council will also hike rates from $87,50 to $175 for high-density, $112 to $225 for medium-density, and $$375 to $750 for low-density areas.
