Dangote Cement crosses frontiers
Lusaka — Dangote Cement has become the largest Zambian exporter of the commodity and other cement products to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Malawi, Rwanda and Zimbabwe. The firm, situated in Masaiti on the Copperbelt, has also taken pole position as the single highest manufacturing sector net contributor of tax in the country. Chief executive and country manager Vipul Agrawal said in an interview recently that the US$400 million investment plant, the single largest cement industry in the Southern African Development Community region, is exporting one third of its annual production to DRC. —
