Council settles stand row

- TAFADZWA KACHIKO

The Chitungwiza Municipality has shown local businessman Tendai Edwin Nyekete his rightful residential stand following a row that had dragged on for over two years.

This follows a ruling by Chitungwiza magistrate Gladys Moyo last year in favour of Nyekete.

Nyekete dragged the municipality and ward 3 councilor John Matiyenga last year to court seeking an interdict to bar the city father from interfering with construction on a stand in Manyame measuring 2 000 square metres.

Matiyenga and the Chitungwiza council were cited as first and second respondents respectively.

In court papers, Nyekete said he bought the stand (number 7482) together with Edeline Tariro Musendo in 2012 for US$12 000 from Rumbidzai Chikwene.

In an application made through his lawyer Job Sikhala, Nyekete alleged that Matiyenga claimed ownership of the stand.

This prompted magistrate Moyo to instruct the council to show Nyekete his rightful stand.
