Panner up for attempted murder
A gold panner from Inyathi has been charged with attempted murder after he hit a rival with a stone and nearly killed him.
Langton Ngwenya (31) from village 1 in Maqaqeni denied the charge when he appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga last Tuesday.
Malunga remanded him out of custody to March 23 for continuation of trial.
Prosecutor Naison Chivayo told the court that sometime in December 6, 2021 at 7pm, Ngwenya and his colleagues attacked Learnmore Zulu (20) leaving him for dead.
Prosecutors said Ngwenya attacked Zulu and robbed him of his cellphone after a beer drink at Best night club at Inyathi.
Zulu su ered from memory loss, severe injuries and lacerations on his head.
The matter was reported to Inyathi police leading to Ngwenya's arrest.
