Man charged for infecting minor

- SIMBARASHE SITHOLE

A 40-year-old HIV positive Mudzi man has been charged with infecting a minor with the virus.

The man, who cannot be named for ethical reasons, appeared before Mutoko magistrate Elijah Sibanda on Friday.

He was not asked to plead to the charge and was remanded in custody to April 1 for trial at Murehwa regional court.

The state led by Nathan Mujuru alleged on March 5 the accused proposed love to the minor and lured her to his house where he had unprotected sex with her.

He continued having sexual encounters with the 15year-old on other days.

Her grandmother became suspicious when she did not return home.

A police report was filed after the minor was found at the man’s house.

It was later discovered that the accused is HIV positive and on medication. —
