Man killed over beer

A 26-year-old man from Mberengwa was fatally stabbed in a dispute over Chibuku opaque beer.

Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko con rmed the incident.

“We received a report where a man from Mberengwa was killed by fellow patrons as they were drinking beer. On March 31, 2022 at around 12pm at Chemubhobho Business Centre in Mberengwa, the now deceased De nite Munyayi Moyo was drinking beer in the company of two suspects Shepherd Hove and Ephraim Chengeta,” Mahoko said.

“Moyo sipped Hove’s beer and this led to a misunderstanding.

“The two suspects assaulted Moyo with sts and Hove withdrew an okapi knife which he used to stab the now deceased on the thigh several times.

“Hove and Chengeta ed from the scene leaving Moyo lying on the ground. He later died from the injuries he sustained and the body was ferried to Zvishavane District Hospital mortuary where it awaits post-mortem.”
