3 nabbed over pangolins

THREE men from Chipinge have been charged with unlawful possession of two live pangolins.

Police spokespers­on Paul Nyathi said Lovemore Dheya (39), ,Justice Faya(42) , Pinias Chauke (31) were arrested on April 4 following a tip-off.

“Police detectives in Chipinge got wind that the three accused persons were in possession of a live pangolin in Chibuwe which they intended to sell at a business center in Chipinge,” Nyathi said in a statement.

“Acting on the informatio­n, police quickly reacted to the call and mounted a road block together with the Chipinge safari crew. They searched all vehicles that passed through the roadblock and they recovered two live pangolins from one of the vehicles leading to the arrest of the three.”

The suspects are expected in court on April 11.
