Hijacked truck driver missing

-

A Murewa family is up in arms with a trucking company and the police after their relative went missing following a suspected hijacking incident on April 15.

Masimba Murombo, who was employed by the Biltrans Transport as a driver, was allegedly hijacked with a truckload of copper along the Harare-Chirundu road.

Family spokesperson Weston Murombo said they received the news of the incident through social media.

Murombo said family members met one Temba Munyimwi, a human resources manager on Thursday but there was no joy on their missing relative.

‘‘As a family we are keen to get an official word from the company and the police. We heard it through social media.

"His wife was told by a guard that Masimba was missing,” Murombo said.

“Munyimwi refused to entertain the family on the progress of the whereabouts of our relative.

“We are still searching for our relative but the company got their load and vehicle.”

The truck and copper were recovered at a farm in Chegutu. — NHAU MANGIRAZI
