Thief kills witness

A man from Fort Rixon in Matabelela­nd South fatally assaulted a 41-year-old cattle herder who allegedly exposed him for stealing fencing poles at a farm.

Matabelela­nd South police spokespers­on Inspector Loveness Mangena con rmed the death of Raymond Moyo (41).

“Circumstan­ces are that on April 8, Luke Mathonsi (50) from Fort Rixon went to Lavenia Farm at 11 pm with his wife Sithobekil­e Ndlovu (27) where Moyo was employed as a herd boy and found him asleep,” Mangena said.

“Moyo came outside the hut and sat down near his bedroom door after which Mathonsi started accusing him of reporting him to his employer that he stole some railway slippers which were used as fencing poles at Lavenia Farm.”

She said a misunderst­anding arose between the two. Mathonsi allegedly started punching Moyo several times in the face with sts and he fell down.

Moyo’s wife Siphathisi­we came out of the bedroom and found his husband lying motionless­ly on the ground while Mathonsi continued kicking him until he died. — BY NIZBERT MOYO
