25 Malawians to be deported
ZIMBABWE is set to deport 25 illegal Malawian immigrants for violating the country’s immigration laws.
They are currently detained at Mutoko prison awaiting deportation following their arrest on April 22 en-route to South Africa.
Mutoko Magistrate Chico Munemero on Thursday slapped the undocumented foreigners with a four-month prison term, which was wholly suspended on condition of good behaviour.
Prosecutor Rumbidzai Mhandu said on April 22 police in Nyamapanda intercepted a commuter omnibus driven by Keneth Mikiri carrying the Malawians.
They had illegally entered Zimbabwe.
They failed to produce required documents to be in the country, resulting in their arrest. — SIMBARASHE SITHOLE
