Man on the run after raping sex worker
POLICE in Chivhu, Mashonaland East Province have launched a manhunt for a man, who allegedly raped and stabbed a sex worker leaving her for dead.
The 38-year- old woman is battling for life at Chivhu Hospital.
Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachii confirmed the incident.
“Police are looking for the suspect in connection with an incident that occurred in Chivhu where a woman was robbed, stabbed and possibly raped,” he said.
According to police, on April 30, at around 1am, the victim, who is a sex worker was at shopping centre in Chivhu when she was approached by a man who wanted her services.
The two agreed to have a sleep-over at the suspect’s place of residence.
While on their way home, through a footpath that passes through Dhirozvi Truck Stop, the suspect demanded cash and a cellphone from the woman.
The suspect stabbed the woman with a knife several times on the head, twice on the left thigh and on both palms and left her lying on the ground unconscious.
The woman was discovered by a passer-by at around 6am the following day in a pool of blood and a police report was made.
