Cyanide lands man in trouble

A BULAWAYO man has been charged with illegal possession of 10 kg cyanide.

Tuyeye Mwini (32), of Cowdray Park was arrested at Amakhosi Bus stop in Bulawayo on his way to Hwange on Wednesday.

“The cyanide was illegally bought from a small-scale gold mine around Bulawayo. Further follow ups will be made to arrest the people who sell the cyanide,” a source said.

Indications are that he is charged with contravening section of the Environmental Management Act.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said they had not yet received such a report.

Sources said Mwini was planning to use the cyanide for poaching activities.
