- MIRIAM MANGWAYA

THE High Court has upheld an appeal by three Goromonzi residents against conviction and sentence after they were convicted for protesting against Covid-19 vaccine stock outs.

Kudakwashe Parankinyu (23), Tanaka Zidoro (18) and Tadiwanashe Gwena (21) were ned $5 000 each on November 12, 2021 by a Goromonzi Magistrate following their conviction.

They appealed against their conviction through their lawyer Tapiwa Muchineripi of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR).

Parankinyu, Zidoro and Gwena were arrested on July 9, 2021 as they sought to be vaccinated against Covid-19 at Chinyika clinic in Goromonzi.

They were told the vaccines had run out, and they protested, leading to their arrest on charges of disorderly conduct. —
