The HP Lubes 2023 Castrol Jamboree

-

Ralph Stead started competing in the Jamboree since the very first event that was held in 1995 in his Landrover Defender 110, and is still competing in a Range rover 1979 2Door Jeep.

Ralph is an enthusiast who has not missed a Jamboree event yet.

Ralph Stead started competing in the Jamboree since the very first event that was held in 1995 and is another competitor who can be seen competing in the Jamboree, while Jim Perry competed in the early days with his Ford F150 and today he competes in a Short Wheel Base Landrover series 1 with his wife, Lizz as his co-driver.

Another honorary member of our club, Michael Gill has been participating in the Jamboree for over 26 years now.

He entered his first Jamboree with a Short Wheel Base Landrover called “Misty”.

Over the years he has be co-driver for Margie Gibson in her Landrover Defender tdi.

Over the years we have developed our site at Donnybrook to incorporate almost every type of 4 wheel drive challenge imaginable.

The 4x4 enthusiast will be putting their skills to the test in all classes of vehicles from the latest SUV vehicle to the extreme and specially modified vehicles where they will be competing throughout the weekend in various challenges including the Tyre Mountain, The SeeSaw, the famous Mud Run with the final test of the best being the Toyota Extreme Challenge which will take place on Sunday in the main pit area.

The biggest skill in this event is knowing the limitation of your vehicle and reading the ground accordingly.

We are expecting between 4050 vehicles to enter in the various classes.

Some of our top drivers to look out for are; Nigel Weller, Mass Kirk, Murray Upton, Ray Walker, Peter Benzon, Wayne Butler, Jim Perry, Aubrey Bennet, Trevor Butler, Clint Mayes, just to mention a few who will be battling it out to see who takes the trophy home this year!

The Long Wheel Base courses are designed purposefully to be casual and to get people interested in the sport and courses are designed not to be vehicle damaging or extreme in anyway.

This is a chance for drivers to develop off-road driving skills and understand what their vehicle is capable of.

There are many ladies now competing in the Long Wheel Base section, and it is good to see this class growing.

We are also running a separate Ladies Course for the girls who are not ready to compete in anything too extreme and wish to test their vehicle and driving skills through a course which is not damaging to their vehicle.
