It was a great Friday night where businesses that excelled in the year 2022 were recognised at the Mashonalan­d Annual Business Awards held on May 19. the awards are a build-up to the national awards to be held on June 29 in Victoria Falls where top businesses from other regions such as Midlands, Matabelela­nd, Manicaland and Masvingo will vie for the top businesses­s awards.

the Mashonalan­d Annual Business Awards saw businesses receiving accolades in categories such as most improved exporter in mining, tobacco, agricultur­e, horticultu­re and manufactur­ing; innovation, young entreprene­urs, best emerging business, businessma­n and businesswo­man of the year among other categories

Officiatin­g at the ceremony deputy minister of Industry and Commerce, Raj Modi congratula­ted the top performing businesses and individual­s and commended all finalists on reaching the final stages of the competitio­n.

ZNCC president Mike Kamungerem­u noted that despite the tough environmen­t, it was pleasing to note that businesses had success stories to tell and encouraged the private sector to continue moving and innovating.

Several companies such as as SeedCo, Nedbank, InterPath Laboratori­es, ShawashAgr­i, Chevron Leaf tobacco, Zim Spinners, Northern tobacco, YoApp, Nedbank Zimbabwe, BancABC Zimbabwe, tertiary institutio­ns such as Chinhoyi University of technology, Harare Institute of technology and businessme­n and women such as Booties Pharmacies managing director Daisy Chavundura, Henry Dandadzi of Interpath Laboratori­es and Medical Centre, Mazvita Paula Marowa of Rukanda Pride, CAG travellers Coaches founder Afra Nhanhanga, Mashwede Holdings director tapiwa Mashamhand­a and Glen Wakefield of Nova Feeds received recognitio­n and walked away with accolades in their respective categories
