IN a bid to uplift youths in the arts sector afro-fusion band The Original afriCANs has courted Team Expandables in their latest music video for Chikuru Rudo.

More than just a catchy Sungura tune infused with jazz and calypso flavours, this video is a tapestry woven with love, family, and the empowering spirit of Zimbabwe's youth.

The band collaborated with Laktam Studios' Brighton Magaya, crafting a visual masterpiece that resonates with authenticity. Family members take centre stage in the heartwarming wedding scene, celebrating not just a union, but the unbreakable bond of loved ones.

"Chikuru Rudo" transcends personal joy. It pays homage to national heroes like Tino Kadewere and Marvellous Nakamba, who proudly raise the Zimbabwean flag on European football fields.

The song's prophetic power is undeniable, having in 2021 predicted Nakamba's rise to captain of the Warriors before it even happened.

“We enjoyed working with a group of fantastic young dancers from Unit L in Seke, Chitungwiza called Team Expandables. They are doing great things under the able leadership of the founder of the group, Clive Hunidzarira.

“I first noticed them on an earground documentary and immediately resolved to work with them due to the transformative work they are doing with the youth, of changing lives through dance. Sometimes all these youngsters need is a little encouragement and endorsement," said Nyevero Muza, The Original afriCANs founder.

The team is comprised of Ashley Mupondiwa, who acted as the bride and Nathan Muteweye, who was the groom. The other members of the dancing crew were Godfree Chinzara, Keith Muchenje and Dylan Murwira.

On the song production, the playing personnel included Carlton Mparutsa on drums, Jacky Mavhita and Nick Nare on keyboards, Ted Wengoma on percussion and Tapiwanashe Muza on bass guitar, whilst wrote the song, sang the lead vocals and played lead guitar, with backing vocals from Nicholar Mutuwa.
