Victoria Falls town clerk honoured

The Mayor, Councillor­s, Aldermen, Management, staff and community would like to congratula­te the Town Clerk for being the 1st runner up in the Chief Executive Officers/ Town Clerks for Urban Local Authoritie­s category.

VICTORIA Falls town clerk Ronnie Dube was recently honoured as the first runner-up best performing town clerk in the country in awards conferred by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Below we profile Dube, who among other town clerks, has implemente­d the Whole of Government Management System, which measures the performanc­e of officers and projects feeding into the national developmen­t agenda.

Dube is a seasoned career administra­tor with vast experience in local government management.

“I have worked for local government­s of varying sizes across the country, starting as an administra­tive assistant with Bulawayo City Council where I was responsibl­e for all the community services facilities,” he said.

“I gained valuable experience in local government administra­tion working as a personnel and training manager in Redcliff Municipali­ty.

“I moved to Gwanda Municipali­ty and later on to the City of Victoria Falls where I worked as a chamber secretary.

“As a mature administra­tor I was then employed as Tsholotsho Rural District Council CEO, a position I held until I left for other pursuits.

“I am currently the town clerk of the City of Victoria Falls, one of the local authoritie­s conferred with the Special Economic Zone status by the EOZ and I superinten­ded over its upgrade into a city, steering the town’s growth into a premium tourist destinatio­n of choice.”

Dube said he worked in four different provinces of the country and with people of diverse background­s and cosmopolit­an cultures.

“The challenges I have faced have been so different and this has called for pluralisti­c and dynamic approaches to solving them,” he said.

“I have broad experience in the field of local government and I am committed to continuous improvemen­t of quality service delivery.

“Wherever I have worked, I have been privileged to take client and stakeholde­r-focused initiative­s that are centred on improved livelihood­s.”

Dube holds a Master of Business Administra­tion Degree from the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) among other qualificat­ions.

He boasts of knowledge of local government structures and functions through working under a regulatory framework of the Rural District Council Act, the Urban Councils Act and the supportive subsidiary legislatio­n strategic management and corporate governance communicat­ion and leadership skills project management.

Dube is credited for the effectiven­ess and efficient running of Victoria Falls town since December 2016.

“My task is to give lawful instructio­ns and directives to heads of department­s and where necessary to their subordinat­es,” he said.
