Prominent Nyaradzo chaplain Kamupira dies
Prominent preacher and nyaradzo Funeral Services chaplain general ellison Kamupira died in Harare yesterday where he was admitted at a private hospital.
Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader nelson Chamisa, who himself is a pastor and had strong ties with the preacher, broke the news about Kamupira’s death on social media.
“i’m heartbroken! my sincere condolences to the Kamupira family for the sad loss of a faith general,” Chamisa said in his condolence message that he posted on X.
“A leader. A legend. A father. A wise man. A happy man. A great man. An advisor. A faithful servant of God. riP Faith General.”
nyaradzo Group paid tribute to the preacher in a message posted on its Facebook page.
“it is with a deep sense of loss, heartfelt affection and an unavoidable smile that we remember and celebrate the life of chaplain general Kamupira, whose remarkable journey with us at nyaradzo was marked not only by his profound impact but also by his irresistible humour," read the post.
“Chaplain general Kamupira almost single handedly built the nyaradzo brand from the ground up.
“makombe wasn't just the nyaradzo brand builder; he was the master of ceremonies in our daily lives, the king of jokes and a steadfast friend who could find humour in the mundane. His laughter was contagious, and his ability to craft joy from thin air made every day a little brighter for all of us and those around him, especially the bereaved families whom he served with distinction.
“Armed with an infectious smile and a pocketful of jokes, he dedicated his life to uplifting spirits.”
Kamupira presided over funerals at nyaradzo lightening the burden of death on many who would have lost their loved ones.
He also presided at funerals of politicians and other persons of stature during his time as nyaradzo’s Chaplin general.
Kamupira was ordained a reverend in the United methodist Church in 2020, making him the first honorary reverend at the church.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be disclosed.
