Massive launch @ Borrowdale Country Manor

-

FOLLOWING the official unveiling of his 65th album at a luncheon for journalists, deejays, music promoters and radio presenters, among other stakeholders at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton, Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi is set to stage a massive gig this Friday.

The gig, which features high-flying entertainer Jah Prayzah, rising star Sam Dondo and Afro-soul singer Tariro neGitare, promises to be a thriller. It is an opportunity for Jah Prayzah, who has had a nightmarish experience with high-profile gigs this year, to redeem his brand and assert himself as the true man-of-the-moment.

Jah Prayzah’s new album is enjoying heavy rotation on most local radio stations and public spaces. His inclu- sion at this mega event, which sees Tuku playing new songs for the first time, is a massive endorsement by the superstar of what the Jah Prayzah brand has become.

Mtukudzi and Jah Prayzah have collaborated on a song before and it would be interesting to see if the two masters of song decide to recreate live on stage, the magic that created “Cecilia” off Jah Prayzah’s hit album, “Tsviriyo”.

Organisers of the event, D& G Events said the organisational side of the show was on point and with tickets out, and selling like hot cakes, it was up to the entertainers to do their job on the day.

“We have sorted everything, demand for the tickets, especially VIP tickets is unbelievable. If they last till Friday it will be a miracle. Individuals and companies are buying tables. I believe people have been waiting for this kind of gig for a long time and it just happened that the superstar decided to take his fresh album there,” said Thompson Dondo.

The gig takes place at Borrowdale Country Manor.
