Make noise about economy, not Warriors

-

EDITOR - I agree with Knowledge Musona 110 percent. The problem with us, Zimbabweans, is we expected too much from the boys and forgot how they got there.

Our preparations were poor. For example, let’s look at the ground where they trained in Harare and the time they travelled to Gabon. Did they get a chance to acclimatise?

In the first place we never expected them to qualify, but they did wonders. But today they are now our enemies. Dai Mwari vatibetsera shuwa. This group was termed “the Group of Death”, meaning it carried big guns. Yes, we fell short, but all was not gloom. This was an experience to cherish and to carry forward into our preparations for the next Afcon. ZBC really let the nation down. They said all sorts of things and even cartooned them. For a national broadcaster, this was really bad considering they themselves are not even delivering. They don’t support local soccer to say the least. Totoonera magames paDStv; a foreign channel and yet they call for the warriors to be accountable.

Our parliamentarians, at least for the first time, also came out guns blazing, calling for accountability on the part of the Warriors and for them to reimburse the money given to them.

The question is: Have these MPs accounted for the US$50 000 they were given to develop their constituencies?

They sleep in Parliament and some Bills sail through without their input. If not for His Excellency the Honourable President who sends them back for correction, where would the nation be?

That noise they made over the Warriors is the kind of noise we need to hear on economic issues affecting the nation.

Maybe we are too stressed that tavakungodhuukira pese pese.

We need to be patient. I believe the guys are professionals and learnt something. We need an overhaul in our mindset not to chuck out the Warriors like they are not our children.

It’s so sad when a parent does not give his kid a chance.

Big up Philip Chiyangwa and your team. Stay focused and results will come. Good things come to those who wait. Let’s sow and then reap. Just, Via email
