Dr Dube: One woman making a difference

-

DOWN to earth, humble, simple and kind-hearted, this is one simplest description of Dr Smelly Dube, a Gweru based business mogul who have defied all odds to become one of the leading businesswoman in Zimbabwe.

She is a woman of statue, one that can pass for an ordinary street woman with a naked eye.

But she is one woman who has risen from the rustic villages of Mberengwa to make a great difference in a male dominated world.

Dr Dube, has risen from the humblest of all beginnings to a business tycoon of repute. Despite all the hostilities that she has encountered, she has continued to shine and lift the profile of her company, River Valley Properties high. The company has become a house hold name.

Always pulling a natural smile, careful and unfazed by boulders thrown her way, the woman, who is now affectionately known by the sobriquet, “The Iron Lady of Midlands”, has continued to shine scooping award after award both at national and international arena.

Recently, Dr Dube added to her trophy cabinet a Beacon Award for Philanthropy in recognition of her outstanding corporate social responsibility programmes in the Midlands province.

The award given by Social Responsibility Network Zimbabwe, was in recognition of Dr Dube’s works in social investments projects in the Midlands province.

The award was just one of many awards that she has scooped over the years.

Like or hate her, Dr Dube is an enigma an inspiration to many, women and men. She is made of sterner stuff. She has seen it all, pocketing a multifarious array of deserved awards in national and regional business awards. She is not stopping. To her, the sky is the limit. Her biggest strength has been balancing the delicate act of being a businesswoman, a wife and a mother. There, her iron body has managed to stand the test and taste of life. She is a great businesswoman, a great wife and a great mother. She is a great thinker and strategist.
