www.sundaymail.co.zw Bido on “President intervenes on fuel crisis”. This is one step in the right direction and it was long overdue. It is not sustainable for the RBZ to buy fuel using United States Dollars and sell it in the prices that were obtaining in Bond Notes or RTGS. This latest move partially corrects the fuel price distortions and helps recover the US dollar whilst managing demand for fuel. The ultimate solution is to freely float exchange rates and allow market forces to determine prices of goods and services including fuel. Competition will keep prices in check.

*** Tinyiko Nyambiti on “Ministerial vehicles suspended”. Finally some sanity is beginning to prevail. Some of these facilities were purely meant to enrich a few. One thing that we all know is that all ministers own cars. They should use their cars like we all do. Iwo maMP acho should drive their own cars too. We used to see them driving the vehicles during campaigns, so why not now. If they were dedicating their pick-up trucks to transport people to their meetings why not now use them to go to Parliament. They have abandoned their representative role and are busy clamouring for three course meals, playing golf and going to the gym. The bulk of them are already bulky and think Parliament is a place to lose weight. We now demand positive attitude from office bearers. They were used to being unaccountable.
