Congratulations to the ZCTA Class of 2019

Harare, Friday, 6 December 2019: The results of the CAA Zimbabwe Certificate in the Theory of Accountancy (ZCTA)- the second hurdle of the eight year (minimum) Chartered Accountancy qualification journey – was released and yielded critical insight into the quality of the Chartered Accountants (CAs) being produced for the local and global market. Whilst the pass-rate have slightly improved as compared to 2018, it is still low demonstrating how high the professional standards of prospective Chartered Accountants (CAs[Z]) must be if they wish to qualify under the Institute of Chartered Accountants Zimbabwe (ICAZ). The ZCTA is the preparatory course for ICAZ Professional Exams, the Initial Test of Competence (ITC), Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). The ZCTA is equivalent to a post-graduate degree in accountancy, of which the CAA ZCTA program is based on the Witwatersrand University’s postgraduate accounting degree. The ZCTA has four main courses at applied level: Financial Accounting and Reporting, Auditing & Governance, Managerial Accounting and Finance and Zimbabwe Taxation. A student must pass all 4 courses in one sitting to proceed to the ITC. The successful ZCTA students are required to write the same ITC exam similar to South Africa and Namibia.

Exceptional Candidates Honoured

CAA is delighted to congratulate the ZCTA ZIM candidates in the TOP TEN positions named below. These students are part of the 219 students (42 in Fulltime and 177 in Part-Time Class) who sat for the CAA Final ZCTA 2019 exams. We are quite delighted with the diverse backgrounds from which the students hail. We are humbled by the effort and commitment that these students invested to achieve these results. Special mention goes to our CAA Zim One, Shaun Nkani (Deloitte) and Nyasha

Mudyanadzo (EY) for leading the pack. This is first tie we had at the TOP for both Full-time and Part-Time Class.

CAA believes in solving Zimbabwean challenges. We honour all our partners, ICAZ and all the ICAZ accredited training firms, students from various universities, the University of Witwatersrand, South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and many of our various local and international partners and service providers for coming together to collaborate with us to create a sustainable Zimbabwean ZCTA solution. We also thank the young men and women at CAA, that have committed their lives to nurture other prospective CAs. CAA salutes its Board of Directors for directing and guiding the entity through the turbulent and difficult times in order to deliver on our mandate. Through the ZCTA program we have started to see foreign and
