It’s a PSL stampede

SERIAL championship winner Devon Chafa could be heading back to the capital city, Denver Mukamba is moving to Mhondoro and Soccer Star of the Year finalist Ian Nekati is on the verge of joining Dynamos.

It’s a stampede in the Premier Soccer League transfer market as clubs have already started gearing for the 2020 season.

Defending champions FC Platinum have confirmed that 29-year-old Chafa is moving on following the expiry of his contract on December 31.

And Chafa — who has seven league medals with Dynamos (four), CAPS United (one) and FC Platinum (two) — is now heavily linked with a move to Harare City where he is set to reunite with former Makepekepe coach Lloyd Chitembwe.

Chafa’s manager, Gibson Mahachi, revealed yesterday that a number of PSL

clubs have already started inquiring about his client.

“For starters, Chafa was not released by FC Platinum. His contract expired. The club offered him a new deal and the player was not happy with it, so they parted mutually,” said Mahachi.

“We are now looking at various options. Some local clubs have started inquiring but we cannot reveal the names now,” he said.

However, The Sunday Mail Sport has been told by a source that the former Warriors central midfielder is close to joining the municipal side.

City coach Chitembwe and Chafa enjoy a good working relationship.

The two combined forces in 2016 when CAPS United won their fifth league title.

Harare giants Dynamos have also been active on the market although the club’s executive has been criticised for the shoddy manner in which they have unveiled their three new signings Partson Jaure, Nkosilathi Mhlanga (from Yadah) and former Prince Edward student Tanaka Chidhodha.

DeMbare are in talks with ZPC Kariba right back Nekati and Black Rhinos star striker Wellington Taderera who was also amongst the 2019 Soccer Stars of the Year.

The Mbare side is also linked with highly rated Herentals attacking linkman Juan Mutudza as well as Chapungu winger Ian Nyoni.

DeMbare are still chasing Soccer Star of the Year runner-up and Chitungwizabred utility player Ralph Kawondera, who has expressed desire to work closer to home, despite having reportedly signed a pre-contract with FC Platinum.

“It’s work in progress, we are talking to a number of high-profile players. We will announce the deals when the right time comes,” Dynamos spokesperson Tinashe Farawo said.

The former champions are also battling to pin down exciting right back Emmanuel Jalai, whose contract expired on December 31.

The 21-year-old Jalai was one of the best players at Dynamos last season and has now attracted interest from rivals CAPS United and Highlanders.

Bosso, who parted ways with Dutch mentor Hendrikus Pieter de Jongh, are yet to invade the market as they await the arrival of a new coach who is believed to be former Harare City mentor Mark Har

rison.

Harrison had also been linked with FC

Platinum before the Zvishavane side settled for De Jongh who is, however, still on holiday in his native country.

His absence has stalled some deals at

FC Platinum who last week announced the departure of veteran strikers Mkokeli Dube and Charles Sibanda as well as former Soccer Star of the Year Rodwell Chinyengetere, who has been recalled by South African side Baroka.

Goalkeeper Wallace Magalane and Cameroonian striker Albert Eonde have also left Pure Platinum Play.

Club spokesperson Chido Chizondo said FC Platinum would only announce their signings after hosting Al Ahly in a CAF

Champions League group stage match next weekend.

“For now we are concentrating on the Al Ahly match,” Chizondo said.

FC Platinum are reportedly interested in

the Triangle duo of impressive defender Donald Dzvinyai and keeper Marion Chang, who is also wanted at Ngezi Platinum Stars.

The Mhondoro side has already agreed terms with Mukamba and coach Rodwell Dhlakama is also interested in talented midfielder King Nadolo, FC Platinum’s Never Tigere and Harare City’s Ishmael Wadi.

Harare City have already lost right back Takudzwa Chimwemwe, who joined Zambian side Buildcon alongside reigning Soccer Star of the Year Joel “Josta” Ngodzo and Ngezi Platinum forward Donald Teguru.

City have also lost star midfielder Tatenda Tumba to CAPS United, who in turn, could also lose Valentine Musarurwa and Kudzai Nyamupfukudza to the Sunshine Boys.

Makepekepe are also reportedly chasing the signature of impressive Black Rhinos wing back Tinashe Sibanda.
