RESPECT FOR LIFE (2) COVID -19 / LOCKDOWN

-

“Whosoever takes the life of a single soul unjustly……it is as though he has taken the lives of all of mankind....” (Chapter 5 verse 32)

Indeed every “life” is sacred and we are all meant to, individually and collectively uphold the sanctity of that life. We have been repeatedly commanded and reminded by The Almighty, in the Holy Qur’aan, not to put our own lives or the lives of others, in danger or at risk.

Whilst we had previously spoken about the evil of murder, random killings, etc. we also need to understand that any and every action, or lack of action, - even though it may be non-violent - which may result in the loss of any life, will as well be tantamount to taking the lives of all of humanity!

Under the current global pandemic, moving around unnecessarily or even carelessly, if and when movement is necessary, is actually tantamount to throwing oneself into destruction and possibly endangering others too!

During the lockdown period, it is extremely important to ensure strict adherence to the various regulations / guidelines relating to “stay home”; “social distancing”; “self-isolation”; “quarantine”; etc. for as long as the threat /danger of viral infection remains.

The length of the period for such regulations to remain in place, is to be determined by the experienced health and medical professionals, who would have studied the nature of such virus and looked at the pattern of it spreading in other parts of the globe, etc.

It would indeed be reckless, maybe even suicidal, to ignore the regulations set down by the relevant authorities and engage in any action or behaviour which compromises our safety and that of the entire community / nation.
