Monday
Government surpasses revenue collection target for the first quarter of 2020 by more than 10 percent, netting over $14 billion against a set figure of $12,8 billion.
This was revealed by Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa during a post-Cabinet meeting briefing in Harare.
Tuesday
Police arrest 40 682 people for violating Covid-19 lockdown regulations, as Government steps up efforts to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
The national lockdown started on March 30. Police have since set up numerous checkpoints and roadblocks across the country and introduced patrols targeting people and motorists breaching the restrictions.
Wednesday
The High Court rules that the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe ( RBZ) acted within its mandate when it suspended EcoCash mobile money agents from conducting financial transactions to curb abuse.
The court ruling suggested the agents, rather than EcoCash, should have approached the courts if they disagreed with the RBZ.
Thursday
The number of confirmed Covid-19 positive cases jumps to 132 from 56 that, with all 76 new cases, bar one, being recorded from quarantine centres housing returning citizens and residents.
Giving an update after a Cabinet meeting, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said there was only one new case of an infection within Zimbabwe.
Friday
President Mnangagwa launches the Presidential Livestock Inputs Support Programme to capacitate smallholder farmers in the piggery sector. The programme will see an initial 10 000 weaners, donated by the largest private pig producer, being distributed to beneficiaries, and will also benefit agricultural colleges, research institutions, security services farms, women and youths, among others.
