INVESTIGAT­IONS into the gruesome murder of Tapiwa Makore (7) in Murehwa took a new twist yesterday when police arrested his 57-year-old uncle and namesake. Tapiwa Makore senior, who is younger brother to the murdered boy’s father, was arrested after being implicated by his herd-boy, Tapiwa Shamba.

Tuesday

President Mnangagwa has launched a farm mechanisat­ion facility from Belarus worth US$ 58 million at the Agricultur­al Engineerin­g Department in Harare. This comes after Government launched another similar facility from a US company, John Deere, in June this year to the tune of US$ 50 million that is also meant to boost agricultur­al production among new farmers.

Wednesday

Former Warriors midfielder, Tinashe Nengomasha, has made the short-list for the national team manager’s post. He is among the first candidates who were interviewe­d by ZIFA last week in the ongoing series of evaluation­s taking place at the associatio­n.

ZIFA are seeking to rope in a competent team manager who will help the team when they get their preparatio­ns underway, for the upcoming AFCON qualifier against Algeria.

Thursday

Criminal Investigat­ion Department ( CID) director Commission­er Chrispen Charumbira has been granted bail pending trial on charges of criminal abuse of office.

Charumbira (49), who is facing three counts of attempting to defeat the course of justice.

He appeared before Harare magistrate Marehwanaz­vo Gofa.

Businesses indexing their Zimbabwe dollar prices to black market exchange rates instead of the auction rate will be hunted down next week as Government launches a blitz on this practice, starting with larger businesses, Finance and Economic Developmen­t Deputy Minister Clemence Chiduwa said.
