Monday

Zimbabwe scored a huge success at the justended Intra Africa Trade Fair (IATF) held in Durban, South Africa as the country was able to showcase its endowments to regional markets and beyond.

The huge interest by investors culminated in the country winning the awards for Best Stand for Doing Business, and Best Stand Design.

Tuesday

As the country hurtles towards next year’s by-elections and the 2023 harmonised national elections, President Mnangagwa has called upon Zimbabwean­s to shun violence and embrace unity and love as was espoused by the humble and hard-working Cde Simon Khaya Moyo, who was interred at the National Heroes Acre yesterday.

In the spirit of oneness and servant leadership that was embodied by the late veteran nationalis­t, Zimbabwean­s should strive to play their part in the advancemen­t of the nation.

Wednesday

The health and education Ministries are collaborat­ing to ensure adequate measures, informed by World Health Organisati­on (WHO) guidelines, are put in place to ensure public examinatio­ns are held safely without risking a spike in Covid-19 infections.

The two ministries are also collaborat­ing on the vaccinatio­n of schoolchil­dren aged 16 and above.

Thursday

Africa should insist that archives and museum objects of its heroes should be originals, not digital copies, with Zimbabwe one of the countries with the facilities ready to receive and protect this heritage, President Mnangagwa has said.

Speaking yesterday at the opening of the Internatio­nal Conference of African Cultures that drew traditiona­l leaders from the continent, academics, African Union officials and others, the President said it was critical to note that liberation movements over the continent did not solely fight for the realisatio­n of political and economic independen­ce but at the core of the struggle was socio-cultural emancipati­on and ownership of means of production.

Friday

The 200 000 Zimbabwean­s in South Africa on special dispensati­on permits have just next year to secure a more regular permit or go home, the South African Cabinet decided on Wednesday. In a post-cabinet statement today, cabinet spokespers­on Ms Phumla Williams said those Zimbabwean­s who previously benefited from the special dispensati­on permits were now free to apply for other permits appropriat­e to their particular status or situation.
