President Mnangagwa has assured Bulawayo residents that the city’s prevailing water challenges will be permanently addressed when Lake Gwayi-Shangani project is completed next year.
The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) last week announced that significant progress had been made in the construction of Lake Gwayi-Shangani and it would start collecting water during the 2021/22 rain season.
Tuesday
Those illegally moving money out of Zimbabwe and stashing it offshore, including those who are laundering funds acquired criminally, are being tracked down and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission with the help of foreign banks has managed to identify some culprits, including top bank managers, and is now firming up the evidence for prosecution.
Internally banks, and now mobile money operators, are taking a lot more seriously the need to report suspicious transactions.
Wednesday
The time is coming when only those vaccinated against Covid-19 will be allowed to use public transport. The Government will soon have vaccination points at bus terminuses so passengers can be jabbed quickly and easily in readiness for that day.
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said after yesterday’s Cabinet meeting that the regulations contained in Statutory Instrument 267 will be strictly enforced.

Ongoing infrastructural development projects as well as continued investment in various sectors of the economy are clear signs that the Second Republic is now an investment destination of choice. He said this yesterday after touring and launching three multi-million-dollar tourism facilities in Victoria Falls, namely Zambezi Boutique Lodge, Nkosi Guest Lodge and the exquisite Palm River Lodge.

Border officials at Beitbridge are fully implementing the new Covid-19 screening protocols in line with Statutory Instrument 267 of 2021 although the volume of human traffic remains low and some people are escaping quarantine and isolation centres.
It is understood that many people are using the illegal crossing points along the Limpopo River where the National Security Task Force (NTF) continues to round up irregular migrants and smugglers.
