Word from Ruwa Town Secretary
WHEN I assumed the office of the town secretary/chief executive officer of the Ruwa Local Board in 2018, my vision was to turnaround the development thrust so that we meet the demands, expectations and aspirations of our ratepayers in the following service delivery matrix: waste management, waste removal, roads, water supply provision and enhanced public utilities.
My main goal was to support the implementation of the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), through the maintenance of the invaluable relationship between my council and the residents for this transformative agenda.
We have also fought hard to avoid the local authority being a sewer of corruption through institutionalising the good corporate governance framework at the shop floor level.
I feel honoured to have been recognised for the Zimbabwe Chief Executive Officer’s Network 2021 Award.
This has been a result of a collective approach from my councillors, senior management and all operatives who work for the local authority.
We persevered, and were resilient in all our conduct as a team despite the Covid-19 lockdowns we experienced in 2021 and the year before.
We lived for others not for ourselves, as we delivered services for the residents and all stakeholders.
I believe that if you leave fingerprints for the happiness of other people, this will guarantee God’s blessings for the community.
I feel humbled to share my operational motto as provided by the Bible in the Book of Proverbs, chapter 11 verse 11.
“By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.”
I, therefore, put high value on good thinking and action for the growth of Ruwa, where we combine knowledge, skill and attitude for us to achieve the expected outcomes.
