Businesses must accept soiled notes

- Marshall Mvere.

AN unsettling development is slowly taking root in Zimbabwe.

We now have businesses that are rejecting payment from customers who have soiled bank notes.

Bank notes that have the slightest hint of dirt or damage are being rejected all over.

This is how as Zimbabweans we are making life difficult for our fellow citizens.

We are creating problems that do not even exist for ourselves and then turn and mourn about it.

The value of a clean dollar is the same as that of a soiled dollar note.

Even some large retailers who take their money to the bank on a daily basis are rejecting perfectly legal tender.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and other relevant law enforcement authorities should come down hard on these businesses. These businesses are imposing illegal sanctions on the citizens and making life hard for everyone.
