The MerriamWebster dictionary describes destiny as what happens in the future.

IT might be things someone will experience later on. Destiny is what you are meant to be, and God is involved in it. The Bible says in Proverbs 20:24: “A man’s steps are of the Lord, how then may a man have knowledge of his way.”

The subject of destiny is often not fully explored yet it is critical.

It is one issue that people should not be reluctant with, but be restless about.

People at a certain age should have sleepless nights trying to figure out which path to take to make it to their destiny.

I strongly believe that if people develop a culture of searching and discovering who they are, then they were not going to lose or miss their destiny.

But can one really miss his or her destiny if it is meant to be theirs?

How can one know they have missed it and can it be corrected?

Today, we have people who regret ever being born, who had pregnancies that were aborted and babies who were dumped, cases of murder and theft, and the list goes on and on.

It is hard to imagine that God meant these people to live the life they live.

Because if you see a person getting pregnant and later having an abortion, then it means they have realised there is a type of life they have missed.

Talk of murder and theft, it means there is a life desired, but to achieve it, there is a step that was missed and someone resorted to using the wrong methods to attain it.

Therefore, search yourself from within, you were meant to be someone, and that passion you have; that extraordinary skill is meant to take you where you are going and what you should be.

Do not turn a blind eye to it. Instead, nurture it because it is leading you somewhere.

Decisions should be carefully made knowing that we have a destiny.

Friends should be carefully selected to positively shape our destiny.

However, in order to fulfil your destiny, it is imperative to write down your vision and those things you intend to change in furtherance of your goals, because your history is not your destiny.

Consider foreseeable obstacles and how to overcome them.

Never forget to establish your goals and create a schedule that is realistic.

Afterward, make sure that you measure your goals.

Always remember that life is a series of choices and by that, it means your decisions determine your destiny.

For example, if you are on a journey, it is important to use a map to guide your direction so that when you take a wrong turn, you can always adjust and come back to the right route. You reach the destination through making critical decisions.

Likewise, in life, you make decisions every day that move you closer to your God-ordained destiny or away from it.

Take note, destiny is not a matter of chance but rather a choice.

It is not a thing to be waited for, but in fact to be achieved.

Yearn to fulfil your God-given destiny! ◆
