Monday

THE rehabilita­tion of schools damaged by heavy rains and winds has commenced after the Government released money under the Disaster Funds for the refurbishm­ent programme.

Most parts of the country have been experienci­ng incessant rains and strong winds since the start of the rainy season, a situation that was worsened by Tropical Depression Ana, which hit the country for the better part of last week.

Tuesday

A combined $8,2 billion has been set aside for the ongoing mobile voter registrati­on blitz and the March by-elections, Zimbabwe Electoral Commission chief elections officer, Mr Utoile Silaigwana, has said.

Addressing a press conference in Harare yesterday, Mr Silaigwana said ZEC presented a $4,5 billion budget for the mobile voter registrati­on exercise, which Treasury has already started funding, while an additional $3,7 billion has been budgeted for the by-elections.

Wednesday

More than 30 000 households in the Mwenezi rural hinterland are on the cusp of socio-economic transforma­tion as the multi-million dollar Marula/Mapfura Processing

Plant has started buying the fruits (the raw material for the juice) at US$5 per 50kg.

The plant is part of the country’s industrial­isation agenda, which is premised on innovation through exploitati­on of locally available resources to grow the economy.

Thursday

ZIMBABWE is seized with the implementa­tion of various projects that will not only have a great impact on the country but will complement the continenta­l integratio­n agenda as envisaged by the African Union and its agencies, President Mnangagwa has said.

He said this yesterday while addressing Heads of State and Government during the 39th Session of the African Union, African Developmen­t Agency — New Partnershi­p for Africa’s Developmen­t (AUDA NEPAD) held virtually.

Friday

PERFORMANC­E contracts signed last year by permanent secretarie­s, are being extended to Cabinet Ministers, heads of local authoritie­s and leaders of State-owned enterprise­s and universiti­es.

The developmen­t is expected to promote a culture of accountabi­lity and improve service delivery.
