I will be back: Ti Gonzi

- Society Reporter

TALENTED and award-winning rapper Tinashe Gonzara, popularly known as Ti Gonzi, says he will this year prove that he is the best thing in Zim hip-hop through wellcrafted compositions.

He is still bitter after failing to make it to the Zim hip-hop nominees list last year.

He went on to label the Adrian “Beefy” Harrison-organised awards a “sham”.

Holy Ten scooped the Best Male HipHop Artiste of the Year award. The artiste is currently working on his fourth album that he feels will show he deserves due recognition in the music industry. Two of his singles — “Photo Album” and “Ndimutsei” — are currently causing waves on the market.

“The past year is one to forget. I have now set my focus on the future. I want to prove that I am the Zim hip-hop king this year with my 12-track album ‘Hipu Hopu Yeku Ghetto 2’ that is now due for release,” said Ti Gonzi.

“I am yet to decide on the actual date of release, but it is most likely coming end of this month. If I fail, it will be dropped in the first week of March.

“My recently released songs ‘Photo Album’ and ‘Ndimutsei’ will be included on the forthcoming album. The tracks are doing well on radio and on YouTube, which is a good sign for me.” With seven awards under his belt, including the most prestigious National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) Best Male Musician award (2020), Ti Gonzi still believes he has the formula for success.

“This year, I am working day and night. I want to go back to my winning ways. I cannot play second fiddle,” he said.

“I have invested a lot of time and money in this new album.”

The charismatic rapper said he has adopted a different approach this time around.

“It is not business as usual. I want to conquer the streets and leave no room for doubt. It has taken me close to one-and-half years working on this project. I have been perfecting the songs so that they create the right effect on the market. I am sure my fans will like it.”

In May last year, he dropped the album “Sendiri Two”, which carried songs like “Kudhara” and “Homwe Yangu.”

The album did not, however, perform as well as his previous effort “Hipu Hopu Yeku Ghetto.”
