Monday
The first term of the 2022 school year opens today for all classes, except for Form One and Lower Sixth classes, which will open separately soon.
Learners said they were happy to be going back to school and hoped that they will not have lessons interrupted by Covid-19.
The first term will have 45 days of faceto-face learning.
Tuesday
Only pensioners, the elderly, those living with disability and people requiring foreign currency to settle medical bills are now eligible to access the US$50 facility from bureaux de change.
In his first 2022 Monetary Policy Statement yesterday, Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor Dr Mangudya said the facility had fallen prey to corrupt individuals who were now selling foreign currency obtained through the scheme.
Wednesday
Civil servants have been awarded a lucrative remuneration package that includes a 20 percent salary increment backdated to January 1, with the equivalent of US$100 now being paid in foreign currency from next month. Government will also provide its workers with school fees support while 34 000 flats will be built for public sector workers over the next five years.
Thursday
Thousands of urbanites will on Saturday be presented with title deeds by President Mnangagwa who will deliver on his promise to implement development that leaves no one and no place behind. The title deeds will ensure security and bankability of the residents’ properties.
Friday
President Mnangagwa yesterday exhorted public officials to put the interests of the ordinary people first, stressing the need for teamwork in the implementation of the Government programmes tailored to transform livelihoods.
Presiding over the historic signing ceremony of performance contracts for Cabinet Ministers, permanent secretaries, as well as chairpersons and chief executive officers of public entities and local authorities, the President said his administration is determined to serve the masses and ensure attainment of Vision 2030.
