Poem — ‘To mend or to break’

-

LETTING go of people who are dear to your heart is a hard thing to do.

However, a famous author David Sanders once said,“The hardest lesson to learn in life is knowing which bridge to cross and which to burn.”

There are certain bridges in life be it people, past events, places and failures that we can do without.

As individuals, we have to know which wall to build and which one to break.

However, many people tend to burn crucial bridges along the way, depriving others of valuable opportunities.

They become successful in life, meet new people requiring their time and attention, and in the process forget those who were with them in the toughest of times.

When we are happy with our thriving success, we seem to forget that it could soon end.

And it is when we are down that we need to lean on those people we would have taken for granted on our way up.

I learnt that it is understandable to burn bridges, but, in burning those bridges, be sure it is not one you will need in the future.
