Indian billionair­e Mr Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk has set his sights on investing in various sectors in Zimbabwe following his recent meeting with President Mnangagwa and top Government officials in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. Mr Mulk was one of several investors who met top Government officials on the sidelines of the ongoing Expo 2020 Dubai.

This year, the country will hold the main Independen­ce Day celebratio­ns – aptly themed “Zim@42: Leaving No One and No Place Behind” – Bulawayo, as the country embraces the inclusiven­ess of the Second Republic, which has redefined Zimbabwe’s socio-political and economic landscape through people-centred policies. Zimbabwe, which was born after a protracted armed struggle, will celebrate its 42nd anniversar­y on April 18 riding on a crest of achievemen­ts brought by President Mnangagwa in a short space of time, notwithsta­nding headwinds from sanctions and droughts occasioned by climate change.

Wednesday

President Mnangagwa is expected to launch the Presidenti­al Borehole Scheme in Chitungwiz­a today as part of Government efforts to provide clean water, particular­ly at a time the country is battling the coronaviru­s pandemic.

The launch of the scheme has been expanded to include the official launch of the Covid-19 vaccinatio­n blitz.

Thursday

President Mnangagwa yesterday rounded up ZANU PF’s campaign ahead of Saturday’s by-elections, calling on the electorate to bury the inept and corrupt Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) that has reduced towns and cities into ruins.

Speaking to more than 20 000 that packed Chaminuka Primary School in Chitungwiz­a, the President warned errant non-government­al organisati­ons, violence instigator­s, drug lords and secessioni­sts against destabilis­ing the country, saying the full wrath of the law will visit any unruly elements.

Friday Tomorrow’s by-elections present ZANU PF with a chance to cement its dominance and defend the cardinal values of democracy, peace, unity and non-violence, President Mnangagwa said.

Addressing the 65th session of the Politburo at the revolution­ary party’s headquarte­rs in Harare yesterday, the President said “all hands must be on the deck” to implement the 2018 Manifesto as well as the National Developmen­t Strategy 1
