Eagles warm up to Mushangazhike

-

NEWLY-APPOINTED Golden Eagles coach Gilbert Mushangazhike has been humbled by the reception he received from his charges, who he believes have the pedigree to win the Ruyamuro Northern Region Soccer League.

Mushangazhike was named Joel Luphahla’s successor on Monday and two days later he watched with satisfaction as Eagles gave him a perfect welcome with a 3-1 win over Karoi United at Chikangwe.

The former Warriors and Manning Rangers striker took charge of his first home game in charge when Eagles hosted Banket United at Ellis Robins.

Chief striker Tatenda Hapazari’s 42nd-minute goal settled matters and gave him his second win on the trot.

He told The Sunday Mail Sport that he was happy with how players had immediately warmed up to him.

“The reception and professionalism I received from the Golden Eagles family across the board — from the executive, staff members and players — has been heart-warming,” he said.

“They accepted the change of coaches very professionally. They have been playing with hunger and determination.

“I want them to play structural and entertaining football, but, most of all, I want my players to be passionate and enjoy what they are doing, because when you enjoy what you are doing, you give it your best.”

Mushangazhike had a brief dalliance with Eagles as coach when the team were in Division Two.

He will working with Philip Sithole after the departure of Luphahla and his assistants Elliot Matsika and Warren Mapanga.
