Determination is key to success

- Rutendo Gwatidzo

takes determination to see a dream come to pass.

VICTORY is possible for the person who refuses to stop fighting. No matter the number of times you fail, be determined to rise up and try again. Have faith and belief in yourself and in your vision.

Work hard with determination and dedication. Before you realise it, it will pay off well.

Where are we?

We are already in the second quarter of the year and a good number of us have not yet managed to find something satisfactory to do in terms of revenue creation.

Some are where they don’t want, some are really nowhere and a few can say that they are happy where they are at the moment.

The good thing is that, a good number of us are trying to make it work.

Giving it a try is one of the most important and initial steps in the accomplishment of anything and everything.

As the year began, most of us embarked on different paths hoping that things will work out well. Sadly, the first quarter has gone by and nothing seems satisfactory yet. Don’t give up just because one quarter of the year is gone and things did not go the way you wanted.

A winner is one who doesn’t lose hope, one who keeps trying until it works out.

Reality! Good things do not come on a silver platter. Determination is a good cornerstone of success. Winners are not usually the smartest persons; it is those who refuse to give up.

Yes, there are those who succeed easily probably because some people before them worked hard already and laid strong foundations.

However, the majority of us will need to sweat for our success.

It starts with a decision, of which, deciding is the easy part of the process.

It then takes determination and hard work to make the decision a reality and this is where many fall short.

Have focus followed by a strong desire and actions to accomplish that which you believe in.

The question I want to throw at you right now is, “What is it that you believe in?” I came to realise that a significant number of us do not even have a dream to chase, we live and move according to the direction in which others are going.

This is the reason why it becomes easy for us to let go when we experience pressure because the dream is not even ours, as such we do not know how to hold on.

Pause!

Many talented people have failed to be successful due to lack of determination.

As you journey in the road of becoming, pause at every stop and reward yourself to build up rapport and to give yourself energy to hit the next goal.

Life is like the alphabetical order where we start at A and we aim to reach Z.

My advice is, at every stop which is B, C, D and all the way to Y, take time to refresh by rewarding yourself so that you avoid burning out.

In simple, I am saying, the first quarter has passed, take time to treat yourself in order to energise yourself.

Yes, I know that someone is already asking why reward myself when nothing happened, when you probably moved in the negative direction of what you wanted. Reward yourself that you are still standing, that you did not give up, that you gave it a try, that you learnt lessons for life. There are so many reasons to reward yourself. Take note, rewarding yourself doesn’t cost money all the time. Afterwards, take position and take off to the next quarter that we are already in. Recipe for success! Determination outlasts many factors that threaten your dream because it spurs creativity when you reach a roadblock.

It pushes you to go above and beyond the ordinary.

When you really want something, in most cases you go an extra mile to achieve it and the force behind it is usually determination. Determination gives you motivation and it is powerful during challenging times because even when results do not show, it keeps you moving, believing that one day, it will pay off.

This kind of skill is sought after by employers because it is necessary for the accomplishment of any goal or objective. I challenge you to have a dream, a vision or a goal that you believe in strongly, be sure that it is what you really want.

I encourage you to be firm, to not waiver until you reach that dream.

Do not be discouraged by the different stops, B and all the way to Y are just part of the process to Z, do not allow them to become your final destinations.

Have inward focus, do not focus on what people say.

In as much as you might desire it, you will never be able to please everyone.

Have your own definition of who you are and before you realise it, you will make the difference.

May this second quarter of the year bring you success and smiles.

Remember, have a dream, determination and focus. See you at the top. ◆ Rutendo Gwatidzo is an Entrepreneur into corporate wear and interior designs.
