Connie Ferguson rocks royal wedding gown

-

BRIDAL season is upon us and who better to get us into the wedding spirit than her royal majesty Harriet Khoza (Connie Ferguson) from “The Queen”.

The return of Y2K style is not only dominating the fashion scene, but television is also experiencing early 2000s déjà vu.

Only this time around it is not the television wedding of Karabo Moroka (Ferguson) and Tau Mogale (Rapulana Seiphemo) on “Generations”, but rather Harriet Khoza and Hector Sebata (Seiphemo) in “The Queen”.

Confession time, I have not watched the Mzansi Magic telenovela (set to go off air early next year) in a while, but a fashion moment I will always follow.

The elegant, yet dramatic, longsleeved feather gown with the longest train since Princess Diana’s 25ft wedding gown in 1981 is the creation of Biji La Maison de Couture.

The local fashion brand is famous for making Zozibini Tunzi’s beaded ombré gown when she was crowned Miss Universe in 2019.

The episode that aired last week was filmed at the picturesque Avianto, situated in Muldersdrift on the West Rand.

It also marked another crossover episode with “The River” with Harriet’s BFF Lindiwe Dlamini-Dikana (Sindi Dlathu) joining the festivities.

Rihanna snaps up her neighbour’s house

Rihanna is expanding her empire once again. The 33-year-old pop star and entrepreneur plunked down US$10 million for a 5 000-square-foot home in Beverly Hills, California, at the end of March, according to property records.

The Tudor-style house is right next door to the newly renovated, 8 000-squarefoot mansion she purchased for US$13,75 million at the end of last year.

Rihanna’s cosmetics and fashion brands have established her as the world’s wealthiest female musician with a net worth of US$600 million, according to Forbes.

Both properties, located in the posh Beverly Hills Post Office neighbourhood, were purchased through trusts.

Evan Jehle, a partner at the New Yorkbased business management company

FFO and a member of the Global Advisory

Board of Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation, is listed as a trustee on deeds for the two transactions, according to public records on PropertyShark.

Mr Jehle could not immediately be reached for comment.

The first property the star acquired –a white mansion with a seamed black roof that gives it a modern farmhouse feel –got a complete overhaul by investor Daniel Starr, who purchased the home in 2016 for US$4,3 million in a transaction featured on Bravo’s “Million Dollar

Listing.”

It now features an open, indoor-outdoor floor plan with white oak floors, several fireplaces and tall hedges to protect it from prying eyes.

The renovated residence can be seen from the grounds of Rihanna’s more recent acquisition, according to images of the property.

Meanwhile, her new Tudor-style home offers five bedrooms and five bathrooms, exposed ceiling beams and wood details throughout, a sauna, half-basketball court and pool, according to listing photos from 2015.

The sellers did not return requests for comment. − Wires.
