You’re equal to the challenge of greatness

- Hunt for Greatness Milton Kamwendo

You have likely heard the story of David and Goliath. It is the story of a small boy facing a huge giant.

IT is about an incumbent and an underdog. It is the story of moving from smallness to greatness. It is the story of unleashing your greatness when it matters most.

It is the story of the giant within confronting the fear of the visible giant.

Fear is the enemy of all greatness and robs too many people of confidence. Believe that you can and you can.

As you believe so are. As you think so you become. The most powerful organ that you carry around is your mind. Focus on David.

He thought differently and therefore behaved differently. He did not carry any credentials that were acceptable for recruitment into the army.

His brothers thought he was too young and too mischievous to be in the theatre of battle.

He had no known experience, but he had been practicing. He did not have any weapons or armour, but he had a powerful and winning mindset.

He did not look at all like a warrior but understood that it is not looks that matter but the heart that one has.

For David what mattered was not look but then power and capacity that lay within.

He was a giant on the inside. He had something too strong and too powerful within. He thought like a champion, had the strategy of a winner and the confidence to deliver great victory.

You have to believe in yourself before others believe in you. You are powerful beyond measure.

Whatever you need to become great is already in you. Quit thinking that you are inadequate.

Dump the deficit mindset. You are equal to whatever task that God has put you here for. Believe and many things will start moving and shaking.

In 1997 Apple led by Mr. Steve Jobs launched a campaign that celebrated great people. It ran on Television and also on print.

The copy of the advert read: “Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes.

The ones who see things differently — they're not fond of rules. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things. They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

The world is changed by people who think differently and therefore do differently.

It is changed by people who believe that they can do great things.

You will not change the world or make any difference when you are hiding from challenge, thinking like a victim and choosing to blend instead of standing out.

You are equal to the task and the call of greatness.

Be the best of whatever you are. You may not be an elephant and you may think that you are simply a mouse.

There are some things that a mouse can do that an elephant can never become. Be the best of whatever you are.

Use what you have and be all that you can be.

Believe in the things that were put in you by God. Believe in yourself and do not dent your confidence by comparing yourself with others.

Mr. Douglas Malloch (1877-1938) was known as the Lumberman's poet. He speaks to all ages and encourages us all to be the best we can be through his poem that reads: "If you can't be a pine on the top of the hill,

Be a scrub in the valley — but be The best little scrub by the side of the rill;

Be a bush if you can't be a tree.

If you can't be a bush be a bit of the grass,

And some highway happier make; If you can't be a muskie then just be a bass —

But the liveliest bass in the lake! We can't all be captains, we've got to be crew,

There's something for all of us here, There's big work to do, and there's lesser to do,

And the task you must do is the near. If you can't be a highway then just be a trail,

If you can't be the sun be a star;

It isn't by size that you win or you fail —

Be the best of whatever you are!" Start Where You Are

Very few people start at the top of their field. Most have to work their way up. Do not let where you are today discourage you. Beginning is always challenging and experience is acquired over time.

Acknowledge the gaps and areas where you need help.

There is a lot of help you can use if you can only seek for it. Whatever you do not know, you can learn. Whatever you cannot do, you can get help. Never be content to remain in darkness, ignorance and fear.

Do not just wait in your cheese-less station thinking and acting like a victim. Keep growing and developing. Keep reaching forth and searching for help and you will get it.

Seek and you will find. Knock and the doors will open.

Ask and you will get the answers that have been looking for you. Your growth is determined by your hunger for progress and greatness.

Resolve to grow daily and keep learning. As long as you are learning you are on course. So long as you still have the under to learn you can be helped.

Be Willing to Fail

Those who never fail never learn. Greatness will require you to do what you have never done. Sometime you will fail.

Those who fear failing fear learning and

growing. Failure is never a person but an event. Do not take failure personally and condemn yourself into permanent fool.

Learn from your failures because they are really the text-books of success.

You cannot become great except through attempting things and risking failure.

After any failed attempt, never lose hope because failure is the seed of success. Failure does not mean that you will never make it at all. It means that it will take just a little longer.

A delay is not a denial.

Keep to the knitting, improving with each attempt. Do not park at the scene of your failed attempts.

Take others seriously but do not take yourself too seriously or write yourself off too soon.

It is not the number of times you fail that matters but the number of times you are willing to rise and face your giants.

Do not failure and then fail to learn from the failure.

There is no need for you to behave like a victim. Put on new confidence and attack the future with confidence. There is no shame in attempting something great and failing. True shame is failing to step up because you were too afraid to try. Be proud that you had the boldness and courage to dare.

Do not wear failure the lens of failure but wear the lens of faith. Wear confidence and boldness and take bold moves and giant leaps.

If your confidence has been shaken, take it up again.

You are equal to the task. Keep at the game and keep punching. You will get there. Stand up to fight when you are hardest hit. You may lose a battle but you have not lost the war.

Do not wear failure on your wrist like a watch.

The seasons of your life are not determined by the failures that you have had. Let your future be determined by your visions of greatness.

Wear your hopes not your shame. Do not bother trying to apportion blame and causality. Take personal responsibility for your greatness.

Stop looking at the obstacles and see the opportunities.

It does not matter who is to blame what is important is to get back into the game. Stand up and do what you must do. You lot is greatness.
